Blank Screen during 2008 Standard Installation

I have a Dell Poweredge 700 that I am trying to install Windows 2008 Server
Standard on. I boot from the installation DVD and it goes through the
initial process where you see the black and white status bar. Then for a
split second I see a green status bar and then just a blank black screen.

Any idea what might be causing this? Possible driver issue?

Thanks,
Tom

Nothing, doesn't even get past the initial black/white screen during
installation. Never gets to the GUI portion of the install.

Interestingly, when I try to install Windows Server 2003, it appears
to hang on the portion of the installation where it's scanning the
system for drives. It locates the internal sata drive as it says
"examining 762345mb disk 0 at id 0 on bus 0...." but it never
proceeds. I suspect the hangup in WinServer2008 is the same thing,
just not visible.

So, do I need to load drivers for the disk?
