Colleagues,

My problem is that my Exchange 2003 server
crashed and I will not be able to resurrect it (h.d.
died). This Exchange server was not only an Exchange
server but it was also a global catalog server - the only
catalog server in my single domain a.d. network. My
network is still functional because of my other domain
controller but, my first issue is this, and, that is I am
not able to properly create new accounts because there is
no catalog server to verify unique account names. It
seems like I am currently running without a global
catalog server. Now my other issue is rebuilding my
Exchange server, how exactly do I re-integrate a new
machine with M.s. Server 2003 & Exchange into my
handicapped network? Do I need to re-run the
utitilities, i.e. sysprep, domain prep &/or forest prep?
What do I do? What can I do? This is what I'm thinking
make my current and only domain server a global catalog
server. Let it settle and then test it by creating an
account without receiving an error. Then buy a new
server install server 2003 add it into the domain and
then re-install Exchange Server 2003 and hopefully not
crash or damage the network anymore than what it is. Oh
yeah, and hopefully the new Exchange server integrates
seamlessly into the network. FYI: I don't have Exchange
backups, so, I do know that I will have to re-create the
Exchange environment. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

I would suggest you to use any Exchange EDB recovery tool. One such reliable utility is Stellar Exchange Recovery Tool.
