Reinstall Remote Desktop on 2003
(too old to reply)

I've lost Remote Desktop capability on a Windows 2003 Standard SP2. It does
not listen on port 3389.

Does exist a way to reinstall this feature, as it relies on many registry
entries that could be damaged? something like the following command line
(that does not do the complete job:)
rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%windir%\inf\tsoc.inf,TerminalServices.FreshInstall.pro

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Tyler,

Is Remote Desktop enabled but you can't access server through it? Check this
through systems properties by right clicking my computer, properties,
Remote. If it is enabled, make sure that your firewall have the port 3389
open

Yes, enabled, ports opened on firewall. It was not listening, but now I've
deleted the connection on administrative tools\tscc, and created another
that worked. But now I'm with a old problem: I have to logon twice to access
the server. I've already verified group policies, they are defaults, and a
similar tweak on connection properties: 'always promp for password'. Should
be anything else...

What I meant is: it asks for 'unlock computer' after login on remote
desktop. Very, very annoying...

Windows XP Professional will always do this. Are you sure you're working on
a server?

No, let me put in other words:

When I connect from any system (xp, 2003) to my 2003, it begins the session,
shows the desktop and lock right after that, so I have to unlock (and use
credentials 2 times).

Have anyone seen something like this? Google wasn't of any help.

Terminal Service Configuration -> Connections -> <your RDP connection> right click -> Properties -> (tab)Logon Settings -> uncheck "Always prompt for password"

Honestly it's property for Terminal Service but maybe it helps you or you fine something similar.
