user licenses for 2003 based terminal servers - 2008 based license server

hi guys,

I have a new license server running on windows server 2008 that will
serve a battery of windows server 2003 terminal servers.

I know that this configuration works. my question is this: the license
server is configured to license sessions on a per user basis. do I
need to install any licenses for this configuration to work ? or is
this configuration unmanaged as it was on windows server 2003 ?

so far it seems to work, but I'm unsure if I do need to download a
(previously purchased) user license pack.
