Windows 7 and Windows 2008 provides the easiest way to change the
Logon Screen.
You just have to set registry value and copy the image in perticular
directory and you are done.

On server based OS'es the standard procedure documented for windows 7 will not work on 2k8. 2k8 R2 introduces a GPO to control this behavior. I am personally now trying come up with a way to get this working on a non R2 2k8 server that doesn't require a rebuild.
