Hello All,

I'm having a persistent issue that began on the 7th of July.

It appears that the DFS database is getting defragmented on an hourly
basis. I can't find any information about the dfsr 3440.

I believe it is causing unnecessarily high utilization of system
resources.

The event is logged as follows:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: ESENT
Event Category: Online Defragmentation
Event ID: 700
Date: 7/11/2007
Time: 12:00:09 PM
User: N/A
Computer: DYNAMIC-DC01
Description:
Dfsr (3440) \\.\D:\System Volume Information\DFSR
\database_3898_8D03_988C_C0BC\dfsr.db: Online defragmentation is
beginning a full pass on database '\\.\D:\System Volume Information
\DFSR\database_3898_8D03_988C_C0BC\dfsr.db'.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt Brown

I have the same problem. Mine started the third of july. Some M$ update probably. If it hoses my server I will be extremely agitated as it is the main server for the company I work for. Haven't found any mention of it except for here. Nor have I found any solutions or settings to change the interval. It is affecting my AD database, FRS, DFS, And my Exchange. My whole network is spending all its resources repeatedly defragging every database on my network. I get about ten events an hour. I couldn't find an actual error in my logs if I tried. Any help would be appreciated.
